Colorado Trout Unlimited (Colorado TU) is the Colorado-based grassroots arm of the national organization Trout Unlimited, America's leading coldwater fisheries conservation organization. Colorado TU is dedicated to the conservation, protection and restoration of trout and their watersheds. The organization has more than 10,000 member-volunteers from 23 locally-based chapters throughout the state. Colorado TU's vision is that, by the next generation, Colorado's trout will be restored throughout their native range. To accomplish this vision, Colorado TU works to protect, reconnect, and restore fish habitat and then sustain this work by building a diverse movement of businesses, people, communities, and young people to carry our mission of coldwater conservation into the future.
Position Overview and Qualifications
Colorado TU is seeking a self-starting, enthusiastic summer Social and Electronic Media Intern to help develop and implement a new set of integrated 21st century communications tools to efficiently and effectively engage and mobilize our 10,000 grassroots TU members and partners throughout the state.
This opportunity is ideal for journalism or digital media/graphics design students with a keen interest in sportsmen's conservation issues, electronic communication and social media. Basic social media skills include Facebook and Twitter. Also, experience with HTML, integrated CMS databases like Democracy in Action / Salsa, Photoshop, Adobe In Design, Dream Weaver, and digital video editing are a plus. This is an educational internship so there will be plenty of learning on the job, but candidates with an existing knowledge of social and electronic media will be considered first. This is a great opportunity to put your classwork and training to use to gain experience and contribute to a great cause - protecting and conserving Colorado's rivers and trout.

Please note: this is a paid three-month internship, working under the supervision of Colorado TU's Outreach Director. Dates are flexible, but preference will be given for applicants who can begin the week of June 6th, 2011 and commit to a minimum of 20 hours per week. A stipend of $1,000 will be provided through three monthly payments ($300, $300, $400) following each month of the internship.
